2014 British Sex Survey Results – Part 1

British Sex Survey 2014

Hello Minx lovers and welcome to another post.

This one is all about the 2014 British Sex Survey results that have just been released by the Observer, and my my, the results were very interesting.

I’m just going to do a quick summary tonight, and then will do the rest of the stats tomorrow. Please imagine a Family Fortunes style PING every time you read an answer, it makes it a lot more fun.

At what age did you lose your virginity?

The average Briton is 18 when they lose their virginity. Current 16-24s are losing their virginities at a younger age (16.5) than any other age group did, and 19% of Britons lost their virginity before 16.

How high is your sex drive?

Rating of sex drive.
Very high sex drive (5) = 11%
High (4) = 23%
Average (3) = 42%
Low (2) = 13%
Very low sex drive (1) = 12%

25% have a low to very low sex drive?? Jesus, that’s a 1 in 4 chance of hardly ever getting laid.

Are you happy with the size of your penis? (mwahahahh)

Yes 79%
No 21%.

The interesting thing with this question is that these stats have shrunk (no pun intended) from 86% saying yes in 2008.
This recession really does have a lot to answer for.

Have you ever used sex aids (such as sex toys)?
Yes = 46%
No = 54%

Nice to see sex toy use is on the up. A few years ago I read somewhere that something like 1 in 3 households now owns at least one sex toy, and this looks like it’s on the up. πŸ™‚

Are you currently in a stable relationship?
Yes = 72%
No = 28%

I find this question rather personal. With divorce rates rocketing, I’d love to know the meaning of the word stable? Stable as in you’re OK, things are nice, you have enough sex, but you wish he’d take the bins out more? Stable as in married happy with kids but you can’t wait for that stag do in Amsterdam? Lol. I think this is just my knee jerk inner single girl reaction, but if this is true, it means that 30% of people are single. Wooohoooo for the single girls and boys out there!

In an average month, how many times do you currently have sex?

Only 1% of Britons have sex 31 times or more per month, or an average of once a day.
Those who believe they have a very high sex drive have sex eight times per month, on average.
The average Briton has sex 4 times a month.
1 in 3 Britons does not have sex at all in that time period. (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!)

I am pleased to say that Mr Minx and myself are in the happier end of this scale. (Smiling and blushing a bit)

Ahem, moving swiftly on……

How many people have you slept with? Oooooh, magic number time!

The average Briton has had 10 sexual partners, a slight increase from 2008, while just under a quarter (23%) have had more than 10 partners.

Men, on average, have had 12 partners, while women have had just seven.

Those living in the south-west or Wales have had the most sexual partners – 12 on average.

Lol when I saw that my first reaction was pretty much…. 12-10??

WALES! WALES! WALES!

Then I remembered this wasn’t a Wales vs England rugby score.

Shagging more or less people is obviously a personal choice, and doesn’t make you big or clever, OR slaggy OR frigid. It’s what you’re happy with.

But… with local talent like this, can you blame us…?

George North

More results and the Minx reaction to follow tomorrow night!

About littlewelshminx

I'm a Welsh girl in my 30s, living and working in south Wales. I like reading, writing, watching films (especially things that make me laugh) hanging out with friends, going to bars to drink and dance playing guitar (badly) listening to lots of different types of music (opera to dance to bluegrass to rock) going to the theatre, and I've recently started swimming. I have 2 degrees, and have had lots and lots of different jobs, including working as a barmaid, waitress, KP, shop assistant, admin assistant, events, sales, PR, marketing....writing suits me best. I will be writing about sex from as many angles as possible - from personal experience, through academia, history, geography, culture, myth, legend, fact and fiction. What is sexy? What turns us on? What do we really think and feel about sex? If you like what you read, please follow me, and pass it on :)
